A full 3 years funding for a PhD fellowship is available at
Laboratoire Magmas et Volcans (LMV) Clermont-Ferrand.

LMV is seeking a doctoral candidate who will conduct the study of
anion trace element behavior at high pressure and high temperature
conditions relevant to subduction zone processes. The candidate is
expected to conduct experiments using piston cylinder – multianvil
press high pressure apparatuses at LMV (Clermont-Ferrand, France) and
hydrothermal diamond anvil cell at ETH (Zurich, Switzerland).
Naturally, the thesis is co-directed by researchers of the respective
institute (K. Koga, LMV and C. Sanchez-Valle, ETH). The successful
candidate should have a master degree in either earth sciences,
material sciences, or related physical sciences. A solid background in
university-level math is required. Prior experience in high pressure
experiments is desired. Some experiences in programming or scripting
language is certainly a plus. For more details, please contact Ken
Koga (k.koga en opgc.univ-bpclermont.fr).

LMV is a CNRS research center located within the administrative
structure of University Blaise Pascal of Clermont-Ferrand and
Observatoire de Physique du Globe de Clermont-Ferrand. The lab is
consisted of approximately 80 permanent staff. Our relatively diverse
constitution include researchers from European nations (other than
France), as well as North and South America, Asia, Africa, and
Oceania. English is well-accepted among the majority of research staff.
