Estimados colegas,

 

Tenemos el agrado de dirigirnos a ustedes para invitarlos a participar en el
“2º Simposio de Bioestratigrafía y Eventos del Paleozoico Inferior”, que se
llevará a cabo en el marco del “X Congreso Argentino de Paleontología y
Bioestratigrafía, y el VII Congreso Latinoamericano de Paleontología” en la
ciudad de La Plata entre los días 20 y 24 de septiembre de 2010.

 

El Paleozoico temprano fue un período crítico para la diversificación de la
vida en el planeta Tierra. La explosión de la vida en el Cámbrico, la gran
diversificación ordovícica, la extinción masiva que se produjo a fines del
Ordovícico, y la aparición de plantas terrestres en el Silúrico, representan
hitos en la historia de la vida. Los estudios fundamentados en la
bioestratigrafía, a escala regional y global, y sus relaciones con los
eventos geológicos para este lapso crítico de la historia de la Tierra,
resultarán de especial interés para el simposio. Los trabajos completos se
publicarán en inglés en Geologica Acta (http://www.geologica-acta.com).

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend the “2º Symposium on
Biostratigraphy and Events of the Lower Paleozoic”, which will be held
within the frame of the “X Argentinean Congress of Paleontology and
Biostratigraphy, and VII Latin American Congress of Paleontology” to be
carried out in La Plata City, between the 20th and 24th of September, 2010.

 

The early Paleozoic was a critical period for the diversification of life on
the planet Earth. The Cambrian explosion of life, the great Ordovician
biodiversification event, the massive extinction that occurred at the end of
the Ordovician, and the appearance of terrestrial plants in the Silurian,
represent landmarks in the history of life. Biostratigraphic based studies
on a regional or global scale, and their relationships with geological
events for this critical interval on the history of the Earth, will result
of special interest for the symposium. The contributions (full papers) will
be published in English in Geologica Acta (http://www.geologica-acta.com).
