Dear Colleagues:
We are just five days from deadline to submit your abstract to the
next AGU Joint Assembly. In particular we would like to call your
attention and invite you to contribute to session GP17 "Precambrian
Supercontinents" that will be held during the AGU Joint Assembly
"Meeting of the Americas" in Foz do Iguazu (Iguassu Falls), Brazil, from
August 8th to 13th, 2010. The session is co-sponsored by the
"Geomagnetism and Paleomagnetism", the "Volcanology, Geochemistry and
Petrology" and the "Tectonophysics" sections of AGU.

Deadline for submission of abstracts is March 31st

A brief outline of the section follows:

GP17. Precambrian Supercontinents
Different Precambrian supercontinents have been recently proposed.
Whether or not they ever existed, and their configuration and
paleogeographic evolution, are essential to reconstruct Earth history
and the long-term dynamics of the Mantle. Tectonostratigraphy,
geochronology, and paleomagnetism are the primary methods used to
reconstruct Precambrian supercontinents, and entities such as Rodinia
and Nuna/Columbia are solvable with adequate geologic record, precise
dating, and high quality paleomagnetic data. We welcome contributions
from different techniques aimed at solving Precambrian paleogeographic
puzzles and their relationships to deep Earth processes.

The scientific program of the meeting and other details can be found on
the AGU website: (http://www.agu.org/meetings/ja10).

We look forward to meeting you in Brasil

David, Augusto, Umberto and Ricardo
