As you know, the Asociación Latinoamericana de Volcanología (ALVO) was 
formally founded on November 7, 2010, in Manizales, Colombia, during the 
commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the eruption of Nevado del Ruiz 
volcano.

The main purpose of ALVO is to strength and promote the ties among Latin 
American volcanologist. ALVO will also promote international collaboration 
within and outside the Latin American region.
