Asunto: [geo-metamorphism] Thin Section Microscopy
Dear colleagues,
It seems that without much previous advertising the previous (2011) version of the “triple-R” guide has found its way onto the computers of lecturers and students, and since many petrologists teach microscopy, some self-advertising may be excused here:
There is now a new edition of the e-book Guide to Thin Section Microscopy by Michael Raith, Peter Raase and myself on the MSA and DMG websites from where it can be accessed and downloaded. Some chapters of the previous version have been modified and/or extended substantially.
www.minsocam.org/msa/openaccess_publications.html
www.dmg-home.de/lehrmaterialien.html
As the title says the focus of this guide is on thin sections. The techniques using single-crystal mounts are extensively covered and well illustrated in the Dyar, Gunter & Tasa textbook.
Enjoy.
