Dear all,
With the deadline just 2 weeks away, i would like to advertise once more
our three-year postdoctoral researcher position. We are looking for a
postdoc for a project that investigates 3D aspects of the evolution of
passive continental margins. The full advertisement text is below and
applications have to be submitted through
http://www.ngu.no/en-gb/tm/About-NGU/Vacancies/Post-doc-fellowship-in-Geodynamics-for-3-years/
I am happy to answer any informal questions about the position or
working at the Geological Survey of Norway, just send me an e-mail at
susanne.buiter en ngu.no The advertisement specifies a starting date of 1
January 2013, but we are somewhat flexible either way for an earlier or
later start.
With best wishes,
Susanne

The Geological Survey of Norway (NGU), based in Trondheim, is the
central national institute for knowledge of bedrock, mineral resources,
surface deposits, and groundwater of mainland Norway and of the
near-surface geology of the Norwegian continental shelf. The Survey's
tasks include geological, geophysical and geochemical mapping,
development and maintenance of databases, research, information
activities, and advice to governmental bodies and industry. NGU’s staff
of 220 includes representatives of 25 nationalities. 65% of the staff
are scientists. For general information about NGU, please see
www.ngu.no
The Geodynamics Team at NGU invites applicants for a:
Post-doc fellowship in Geodynamics for 3 years
The position is part of a project funded by the Norwegian Research
Council aimed at investigating the formation and evolution of
continental passive margins. The postdoctoral fellow will use and
develop numerical models to study the effects of oblique extension on
passive margin structures. Close collaboration with national and
international research groups is an essential part of the project.
The Geodynamics Team at NGU (www.geodynamics.no) investigates tectonic
processes and their effects on local to global scales using a
combination of geodynamic modelling, structural geology, geochronology,
seismic interpretation, and GIS analysis.
The successful candidate should preferably have a background in Earth
Sciences, ideally with experience in geodynamic computational methods
and/or with a solid understanding of passive margin evolution.
Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. education at the time the
position starts. NGU encourages applications from female scientists. We
can offer a favourable working environment, unique scientific
challenges, and good possibilities for international collaborations.
For further information, please contact leader of the Geodynamics Team
Susanne Buiter (+47 73 904265, susanne.buiter en ngu.no) or the Director of
the Geomapping Division Øystein Nordgulen, + 47 73 90 4245,
oystein.nordgulen en ngu.no).
Applicants should send (1) a curriculum vitae, (2) a list of
publications, (3) a statement of research interests, and (4) the names
and e-mail addresses of two persons willing to write a reference in one
PDF-file, to www.ngu.no/vacancies. The position is open from 1 January
2013 and the deadline for applications is 31 October 2012.
