SIMPOSIO VOLCANISMO DE LOS ANDES
SESION  ESPECIAL: VOLCANISMO, METALOGENIA  Y GEOTERMIA

Durante el XIX Congreso Geológico Argentino a realizarse en la ciudad de
Córdoba del 2 al 6 de junio de 2014 y en el marco del Simposio de Volcanisno
de los Andes, tendrá lugar una Sesión Especial dedicada al : VOLCANISMO ,
METALOGENIA  Y GEOTERMIA. Los interesados en participar en este Simposio con
ponencias y/o posters están invitados a enviar trabajos, de acuerdo con las
normas y plazos establecidos por el Congreso ( www.congresogeologico.org.ar
). Deberán enviar el título y el resumen de la presentación, simultáneamente
a (cientifica en congresogeologico.org.ar, Comité Organizador, haciendo mención
a la incorporación del mismo a este Simposio) y a los Coordinadores de esta
Sesión:  Beatriz Coira  (bcoira2004 en yahoo.com.ar) y Marta Franchini
(mfranchini en speedy.com.ar).
Dada la estrecha relación existente entre los sistemas
volcánicos-subvolcánicos, los depósitos minerales y los sistemas
geotermales,  esta sesión busca promover la integración  disciplinaria
creando un espacio de discusión y análisis de los avances logrados en dichos
campos, enfoques y metodologías aplicados, así como caminos de articulación
entre ellos.
El encuadre multidisciplinario propuesto propicia  la participación de
colegas y grupos de investigación en sus distintas especialidades:
volcanismo, petrología, metalogenia, mineralogía, tectónica, hidrogeología,
hidrogeoquímica, geofísica, entre otras.
Dentro de las temáticas de interés de esta sesión y en el marco del
volcanismo asociado a la construcción de los Andes, así como de sus
representantes pre-andinos,  se incluyen:
-Sistemas volcánicos-subvolcánicos, procesos, facies y estructuras, su
control en el emplazamiento de depósitos minerales y sistemas geotermales.
-Ambiente geotectónico, volcanismo, depósitos minerales y geotermalismo.
-Eventos volcánicos y metalogenéticos.
-Exploración geotérmica asociada a volcanismo, aplicación de distintas
metodologías., entre otros.
Se recuerda que el plazo para el envío de resúmenes vence el 1° de noviembre
de 2013.

During the nineteenth Argentinean Geological Congress to be held in the city
of Cordoba from 2 to 6 June 2014 and under the Volcanisno Symposium of the
Andes, there will be a special meeting of: VOLCANISM AND METALLOGENY AND
GEOTHERMAL ACTIVITY. Those interested in participating in this symposium
with presentations and / or posters are invited to submit papers, according
to the rules and deadlines set by the Congress
(www.congresogeologico.org.ar). They should send the title and abstract of
the presentation simultaneously (cientifica en congresogeologico.org.ar ,
Organizing Committee , referring to the incorporation of the same in this
Symposium) and the Coordinators of this Session: Beatriz Coira (
bcoira2004 en yahoo.com.ar ) and Marta Franchini (mfranchini en speedy.com.ar) .
Given the close relationship between volcanic - subvolcanic systems, mineral
deposits, and geothermal systems, this session seeks to promote the
integration of disciplines creating a space for discussion and analysis of
the progress made in these fields, approaches and methodologies applied, and
articulation between them.
The proposed multidisciplinary framework encourages the participation of
colleagues and research groups in their various specialties: volcanism,
petrology, metallogeny, mineralogy, tectonics, hydrogeology, hydrochemistry,
geophysics, among others.
Among the topics of interest for this session and under the volcanism
associated with the construction of the Andes and Pre-Andes representatives,
it will include:
Volcanic - subvolcanic systems, processes, facies and structures, control at
the location of mineral deposits, and geothermal systems.
- Geotectonic Environment, volcanism, mineral deposits, and geothermal
activity.
- Volcanic and metallogenic events.
- Geothermal exploration associated with volcanism, different methods, among
others.
Please be reminded that the deadline for submission of abstracts is 1
November 2013.

Hi folks,

Midland Valley are pleased to announce the release of a free digital compass
clinometer for data capture on your smart phone. FieldMove clino for iPhone
and Android. We are officially launching the app at the GSA in Denver at the
end of this month, but FieldMove clino version 1.0 is already available for
download from the App Store and from Google play.

The app will allow you to use your phone as a traditional hand-held bearing
compass as well as a digital compass clinometer for measuring and capturing
the orientation of planar and linear features. There is a short user guide
within the app so that you can quickly set up a project and start collecting
data. You can also capture and store digital photographs and text notes.
FieldMove clino supports online Google Maps as well as offline maps, so that
you can import your own georeferenced basemaps. Data can be exported as
comma-separated values (.csv) or Move™ (.mve) files and then imported
directly into FieldMove™, Move™ or other applications.

We would like to say a big thank you to everybody around the world who has
helped with ideas for functionality and field testing the first release.
We already have plans for the next version in 2014, but we’d be very pleased
to hear your thoughts on version 1.0. The FieldMove clino app can also be
used on larger tablet devices (iPad and Android tablets) and next year will
see the release a scaled up version of FieldMove for digital mapping using
these touchscreen devices.

It’s probably worth reminding people that the pc version of FieldMove (free
for all universities) can still be downloaded directly from the Midland
Valley website at www.mve.com. The pc version of FieldMove is being widely
used for field mapping training in many universities and again we would like
to thank everybody for their constructive feedback on this application.

In the meantime, please download the FieldMove clino app and start
collecting data.
