It is our pleasure to cordially invite you to submit an abstract in
the “*S7-Base
Metals in Sedimentary Sequences Special Session*†for the forthcoming 15th*
Quadrennial Symposium of the International Association on the Genesis of
Ore Deposits (IAGOD)*, to be hosted in the city of Salta, Argentina, 28th
to 31st August, 2018. The IAGOD web site (http://15iagods.org/) is
currently active, and the deadline for abstract submission will be until 15
th May, 2018.

*Outline*: Sediment-hosted deposits are the most importance source of lead
and zinc and consititute 23% of the world’s copper production. This session
covers the broad range of deposits hosted in sedimentary basins, including
Sedimentary Exhalative, Mississippi Valley Type, Vein-type and
Sediment-hosted Copper-Silver-Cobalt Deposits. They are a diverse group of
ore deposits hosted by a wide variety of carbonate and siliciclastic rocks
and display a broad range of relationships to enclosing host rocks
(stratiform, strata-bound, and discordant ores).

This session will explore the many critical factors involved in the genesis
of these sedimentary base-metal deposits: 1) large-scale geodynamic setting
of mineralization; 2) lithological and structural controls on deposits with
special emphasis on the tectono-thermal evolution of the basin; 3) the
origin of the metals and sulphur; 4) geochronology 5) the source and
geochemistry of the mineralizing fluids; 6) mechanisms of fluid flow; 7)
controls of metals transport and precipitation mechanisms, and 10) factors
related to preservation.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
