Dear colleagues, we are glad to invite you to take part in the special
issue of the Journal of Earth Sciences of South America!!! Please, see
below.

Journal South American Earth Sciences - ELSEVIER
Special issue: Famatinian orogen on the South American plate
Edited by Pablo Alasino, César Casquet, Mariano Larrovere, Juan Dahlquist
The Famatinian orogeny was an accretionary-type orogeny that took place in
the Ordovician along the proto-Andean margin of Gondwana from Patagonia to
Venezuela. It was part of the ca. 14,000 km Terra Australis orogeny that
fringed the SW Gondwana margin and whose activity continues to date as the
Andean orogeny. The exposure of Famatinian rocks along the edge of the
South American plate is varied and the orogenic belt provides an ideal
natural laboratory to explore the evolution of long lived magmatic systems
and the reconstruction of tectonic and sedimentary records. Hence, the
Journal of South American Earth Sciences openly calls for papers for a
special issue on this subject.
This special volume of the JSAES is aimed at publishing new contributions
focused on physical and chemical processes involved the evolution of the
Famatinian orogen - from the innermost to the atmosphere.
Researchers who may be interested in participating in this special issue
are invited to send tentative titles.
We will be happy to receive your proposals!!!
Key dates:
- Submission deadline of tentative titles is May 10th, 2019
- Submission deadline of manuscripts is March 20th, 2020
- Second half of 2020 – Publication in Journal of South American Earth
Sciences
Best regards,
Pablo on behalf of the editorial board
