EL AGUA Y LA ENERG�A: 

El agua no sólo es portadora de energía potencial que se transforma en energía hidroeléctrica, sino también de otras formas de energía, por ejemplo:
   
   - El litio con que se fabrican las baterías cada vez más utilizadas, se encuentra en los salares de la Puna, en el recurso hídrico subterráneo denominado “salmuera� (“brine�). Es agua subterránea hipersalina almacenada en sistemas acuíferos o hidrogeológicos, donde el litio está disuelto. Es agua con salinidad total mayor a 40.000 mg/l (supera la salinidad del agua de mar). La explotación del litio en los salares es un tipo especial de minería: se bombea salmuera (agua subterránea hipersalina) de pozos perforados con técnicas y criterios hidrogeológicos.
   - Geotermia: el agente de transporte de esta energía natural del interior de la Tierra es el agua subterránea, que se extrae del subsuelo también de pozos y puede manifestarse en superficie como manantiales y fumarolas, las tan apreciadas “termas�.
