Dear Earth Science colleagues,



The International Geodiversity Day was approved by unanimity by the 211th
Session of the UNESCO Executive Board. More than 70 countries have
co-sponsored this proposal, which is a sign of the remarkable support from
all continents!



The International Geodiversity Day proposal will be submitted to the 41st
Session of the UNESCO General Conference in November 2021.



The scientific proposers of International Geodiversity Day have decided
that the Day needs an emblem to give greater visibility to geodiversity and
the International Day itself, and to support the concept as it is discussed
at the UNESCO General Conference. As such we are calling on the young
people of the world to make their submissions for the International
Geodiversity Day emblem.



The Organizers encourage proposals from all regions of the world, with the
competition being open to all who are *younger than 30 years old on July
31st 2021*. The deadline for submissions is *17:00 GMT on 31 July 2021*.
