<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Desde el Jurásico hasta el Cuaternario, se han registrado en la Patagonia episodios volcánicos de gran envergadura, los cuales se han desarrollado en diversos contextos geotectónicos que involucran ambientes
de intraplaca asociados a anomalías térmicas, expansiones y migraciones del arco magmático y apertura de ventanas astenosféricas asociada a la subducción de dorsales sísmicas. Como espejo de esta gran variedad de procesos, la signatura geoquímica de los magmas
es altamente variable, siendo tanto calcoalcalina, como toleítica y alcalina. Algunos de estos episodios magmáticos han estado directamente ligados a la generación de importantes manifestaciones de metales preciosos, tal como la provincia magmática Chon Aike,
que hospeda a numerosos yacimientos hidrotermales de Au y Ag. La mayor parte de los modelos genéticos de los magmas de la Patagonia está aún en discusión, como es el caso del origen de los plateaus basálticos de intraplaca post-cretácicos, que han sido atribuidos
tanto a la subducción de dorsales, como a procesos inherentes a la dinámica mantélica. En este contexto, el objetivo de esta sesión temática es recibir contribuciones de todos los campos de investigación que involucren aspectos genéticos y evolutivos de rocas
volcánicas de Patagonia (geológico, geoquímico, geofísico, estructural, de volcanismo físico, entre otros), desde Jurásico al Cuaternario.</span></p>

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">From Jurassic to Quaternary times, Patagonia has been the focus of large volcanic events developed in various geotectonic contexts. These tectonic settings involve intraplate environments associated
with mantle thermal anomalies, broadening and/or migrations of the magmatic arc, slab window opening by subduction of seismic ridges, etc. As a mirror of this great variety of processes, the geochemical signature of the magmas is highly variable, with calc-alkaline,
tholeiitic and alkaline compositions. These magmatic episodes have been directly related to important occurrences of precious metals. As an example, the Chon Aike SLIP, hosts numerous Au-Ag hydrothermal deposits. Most of the genetic models of the Patagonian
magmas are still in discussion, as is the case of the origin of post-Cretaceous intraplate basaltic plateaus, which have been attributed both to subduction of seismic ridges and processes inherent to mantle dynamic. In this context, the objective of this session
is to receive contributions of genetic and evolutionary aspects of Patagonian volcanic rocks from Jurassic to Quaternary times. We hope to receive contributions from all research fields (geological, geochemical, geophysical, structural, physical volcanism,
among others), in order to generate cross-disciplinary interactions and collaborations.</span></p>
