PALEOMAGNETISM AND MAGNETIC FABRIC: RECENT ADVANCES AND APPLICATIONS
http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2017/session/22840
Session description:
The recent advances in directional rock magnetic methods have increased their already high potential in solving research questions in numerous geological settings. Integrated paleomagnetic and magnetic fabric studies together with structural geology and petrology are indeed very efficient tools to increase our knowledge about sedimentological, tectonic or volcanic processes in various scales. This session is mainly focused on "classical" paleomagnetism and magnetic anisotropy. It is intended to give an opportunity to present innovative theoretical or methodological works and their direct applications in solving particular geological problems. Especially welcome are contributions combining paleomagnetic and magnetic fabric data, integrating various magnetic fabric techniques (e.g. AMS, AARM, AIRM), combining magnetic fabric with another means of fabric analysis, or showing novel approaches in data evaluation. Acquisition of petrofabrics or characteristic remanence and its remagnetisation in various tectonic settings, assessment of volcanic edifices and related hazards, geodynamic processes in mountain belts and in areas of complex and distributed deformation, are some of the encouraged and welcome applications.
WE KINDLY INVITE YOU TO SUBMIT ABSTRACTS BY 11 JANUARY 2017, 13:00 CET.
We are looking forward to meeting you in Vienna!

Martin Chadima
