1st Announcement of the 3rd Beijing Symposium on Earth and Planetary Interior
A broad range of the geomagnetic field data, made available through
archeo- and paleomagnetic studies and modern observations, have been used
to provide crucial constraints on the physics and dynamics of the Earth's
deep interior. It is becoming increasingly recognized that the Earth's
mantle and core-mantle-boundary region play an important role in the
spatial and temporal structure of the geomagnetic field. New generations
of the geodynamo simulation are currently being developed on modern
massively parallel computers and we are now at the very exciting stage in
our understanding of the origin and variations of the Earth'smagnetic
field and that of other planetary bodies.
Supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China and Chinese
Academy of Sciences, we are pleased to announce the 3rdBeijing
International Symposium on Paleomagnetism and Earth and Planetary Deep
Interior (chairmen: Professor R. Zhu and Professor K. Zhang), which will
take place at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of
Sciences, Beijing. The dates of the symposium will be 7-10 July 2013.
We cordially invite contributions to this multidisciplinary symposium.
Topics will include the behaviour of the Earth¡¯s ancient and current
magnetic field, rock and environmental magnetism, the methodological and
theoretical advance in paleomagnetic studies, the dynamics of the Earth¡¯s
deep interior, interactions of the core and lower mantle, planetary
magnetism, biogeomagnetism, and theory and numerical simulation of the
dynamo. The symposium will provide stimulating interactions between
researchers from various, but related disciplines. There will be invited
lectures covering all the major areas.Relevant contributions are welcome
orally or in posters.
The abstract and registration deadline will be 31March 2013.
More specific information regarding the registration and other details can
be found at website:http://www.paleomag.net/meeting/2013. For any further
information, please contact the Symposium Secretary, Professor Y. Pan, at
yxpan en mail.iggcas.ac.cn.
