Dear Colleagues


It is our sad duty to inform you that our friend and esteemed
colleague Prof. Roberto Lanza has passed away early this August.
Roberto has been the founder of the Alpine Laboratory of
Paleomagnetism (ALP). He was author of numerous papers on
archeomagnetism, rock magnetism, magnetic anisotropy and
paleomagnetism applied to structural geology. He authored the
excellent essay titled The Earth's Magnetism: An Introduction for
Geologists and has been part of important scientific projects during
his active and dedicated career. He will be dearly missed.
