Paleomagnetism and Geomagnetism in LatinAmerica: from Tectonics to the Environment
(Eds. Avto Goguishaishvilli and Augusto Rapalini)
__
During the last three decades, a significant increase in paleo-, archeo-
and geomagnetic studies in Latin-America has been observed. This
progress is due to both increasingly active research groups already
established in Latin America as well as from investigators working
around the world but who have focused their studies systematically or
eventually in the Americas. The subjects and objectives of these
investigations have been also widely varied. The idea for this issue
comes from the recent succesfull 4th Bienal Meeting of LATINMAG
(LatinAmerican Association of Paleomagnetism and Geomagnetism), held in
Sao Paulo, Brazil, in November 2015. During that meeting a large number
of high-quality contributions were presented in relation to such
different topics as Andean tectonics, paleogeographic reconstructions,
paleointensity determinations, archeomagnetism, environmental magnetism
and geomagnetic processes. The event was well attended with an active
multinational audience and stimulating presentations.
This special volume of Studia Geophysica et Geodaetica is intented to
present an updated view of present research and recent results on
paleomagnetic and geomagnetic studies along Latin America, based upon
but not restricted necessarily to presentations given at the LATINMAG
meeting. Contributions from a broad thematic spectrum from the tectonic
evolution of different regions of Latin-America to studies devoted to
the temporal variations of the geomagnetic field on both archeological
and geological time scales as well as different aspects of paleo-,
rock-, geo- and environmental magnetism will be welcome.
The deadline to submitt papers through
https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/sgegis May, 30, 2016. Please mention in
your cover letter to the Editor in Chief that the manuscript is part of
the special issue ?Paleomagnetism and Geomagnetism in LatinAmerica: from
Tectonics to the Environment?
Looking forward to receiving your contribution
Best wishes
Avto and Augusto
