Dear Latinmag colleagues

  1. Beforehand, I wish you a happy new year, full of health, happiness and a lot of pmag paper for 2017!!

  2. I would like to invite you to take part of our EGU session in the next EGU 2017 conference in Vienna.

The call for abstracts for the EGU 2017 General Assembly<http://egu2017.eu/> (Vienna, 23-28 April) will close on 11 January at 13:00 CET.
We would encourage you to submit an abstract to the EGU General Assembly session EMRP3.2: Environmental Magnetism: advances and perspectives In the last decades, the use of rock and environmental magnetism in geophysical and geological sciences had increased exponentially. Environmental magnetism provides indispensable information about sedimentary and tectonic processes, environmental redox conditions during sedimentation, diagenesis and biological activity. The session invites studies from all areas of rock and environmental magnetism which have an impact on climatic, stratigraphic and environmental applications. New theoretical models or measurement techniques are also welcomed.

Deadlines:

*             Abstract submission (deadline: 11 Jan 2017)

* Short course request (deadline: 20 Jan 2017)

* Splinter meeting request (open unti availability)

  3. Finally, our research topic "Magnetic Records of Extreme Geologic Event" is now published and available online here: http://journal.frontiersin.org/researchtopic/2843/magnetic-records-of-extreme-geological-events

An E-book will be published soon. Note also that this research topic will be eligible for the Frontiers Spotlight Award (100,000 $), allowing the organization of a international conference on this topic. The selection is based on the analytics complied from the Impact Metrics of each Research Topic, which is assessed using four types of metrics:
- Content Metrics: The Research Topic should achieve comprehensive coverage of the proposed research area and involve researchers at an international scale.
- Article Impact Metrics: Views, downloads, social media mentions and international reach (citations may be considered, but are usually at a later stage).
- Author Impact Metrics: Citation benchmarking and profile views of the Topic Editors and authors.
- Loop Metrics: Number of followers of the Research Topic on Loop; comments, discussion, shares, related blog posts, media coverage, demographic impact, etc

Thus, be free to consult, comment and discuss it by using the link above ! ;)

Note also that Frontiers in Earth Science has been recently selected for inclusion in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) produced by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters). Inclusion in the ESCI means that our journal has passed an editorial evaluation and that all articles will now be fully indexed in the Web of Science.

Hope you are doing well
Cheers
Eric
