[Latinmag] Importante/Important: Latinmag 2019 no puede realizarse en las condiciones actuales/cannot be carried out

[Sexta reunión Bienal Latinmag 2019]

Estimada Comunidad Latinmag,

*Les escribimos para comunicarles que, dada la situación actual del país
como del lugar de realización, campus Rancagua de la Universidad de
O’Higgins, el Latinmag 2019 no puede realizarse en las condiciones que se
habían planteado en un principio. Durante los últimos días la situación
socio-política en Chile se ha vuelto más inestable. Por otro lado, los
estudiantes de la Universidad de O’Higgins tomaron el establecimiento el
día jueves recién pasado, y la búsqueda de un establecimiento alternativo
se ha visto complicada por situaciones similares en otros establecimientos
estatales, y los altos precios de establecimientos privados* *Esta decisión
se ve reforzada al constatar que muchos congresos se han cancelado o
aplazado a medida que evoluciona el conflicto.*

*Para nosotros ha sido una gran ilusión tener la oportunidad de realizar el
Latinmag en nuestro país, y nos da pesar concluir que, en las actuales
condiciones, no es conveniente su realización presencial. En especial,
sentimos enormemente los esfuerzos que habían realizado muchos de los
inscritos para poder asistir. Para la devolución de los dineros nos
contactaremos con cada uno de los inscritos directamente. A aquellas
personas que igual deseen visitar Chile las invitamos a que nos contacten
directamente para tener la oportunidad de conocernos en persona.*

*Sin embargo, no queremos que el trabajo invertido por los participantes y
la organización se desperdicie. Para eso nos pondremos en contacto con el
comité ejecutivo y demás líderes de los laboratorios para ver la mejor
forma de continuar con el latinmag, sea esta de forma virtual o presencial.*

*we are writing to inform you that given the current situation in Chile and
the Rancagua campus of the University of O'Higgins, Latinmag2019 cannot be
carried out under the conditions originally planned for the meeting. During
the last days, the socio-political situation in Chile has become more
unstable. On the other hand, the students of University of O'Higgins took
over and are occupying the campus since last Thursday, and the search for
an alternative has been complicated by similar situations in other public
institutions and the high prices of private alternatives. This decision is
reinforced by the fact that many conferences and seminars have been
canceled or postponed during the last couple of weeks.*


*For us, it was a great illusion to have the opportunity to organize the
Latinmag in our country, and we are very sorry to conclude that under the
current conditions, its in-person realization is not convenient. In
particular, we greatly felt the efforts that many of the registered members
had made to attend. For the return of paid registrations, we will contact
each person directly. For those who still be visiting Chile, we invite you
to contact us to have the opportunity to meet in person*

*However, we do not want the work invested by the participants and the
organization to be wasted. We are contacting the executive committee and
leaders of laboratories to see the best way to move forward with Latinmag,
whether it will be a virtual o in-attendance meeting, and the most
appropriate dates for it. *
