Hi Everyone,

We're hiring an Assistant Professor of Crustal Dynamics here at UWyo.
Please forward this posting to anybody that might be interested.

I'm currently building a paleomagnetism lab at UWyo, so a successful
candidate who uses paleo/rock magnetism in their research will be able
to continue doing so in-house.

_The Department of Geology & Geophysics at the University of Wyoming
welcomes applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Crustal
Dynamics. We seek applicants who complement existing research strengths
within the department and across the University. Research focus is open
including, but not limited to, lithospheric deformation, basin analysis,
Earth surface processes, geodynamics, and the interplay of crustal
processes with the biosphere or atmosphere. We particularly encourage
applicants who address questions from the grain scale to the global
scale and who integrate field, theoretical, experimental, and/or
computer modeling/computational/data science approaches. This position
offers the possibility of a joint appointment in the School of Computing
for candidates with demonstrated expertise and interest in
interdisciplinary computing applications and research, however this is
not a requirement._

_ _

_ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:__ _

_The successful candidate will be expected to build a vibrant,
extramurally funded research program in the broadly defined area of
crustal processes, contribute to the teaching mission of the department,
and participate in service._

_ _

_MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:__ _

_A minimum of a PhD degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geosciences, or
related fields at time of appointment and evidence of past research
and/or teaching experience is required. _

_ _

_DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: __ _

  	* _Demonstrated ability and/or potential to develop a nationally
competitive, extramurally funded research program_
	* _Use of field-based and/or computational approaches in their teaching
and/or research_
	* _Ability to advise graduate students_
	* _Ability to contribute to core undergraduate coursework related to
crustal processes (possibly including: structural geology, field
geology, petrology, and/or geophysics)_

_ _

_REQUIRED MATERIALS: __ _

_Complete the online application and upload the following documents:
cover letter; C.V. that includes a list of publications; statement of
research interests and future research plans; statement of teaching
philosophy and teaching interests; and contact information (mailing
address, phone number and e-mail address) for three references. This
position will remain open until filled. __COMPLETE APPLICATIONS RECEIVED
BY 01/05/2025 WILL RECEIVE FULL CONSIDERATION__. Questions may be
directed to search chair Dr. Parsekian at crustal_search en uwyo.edu_

other UW entities, including the School of Energy Resources and the
School of Computing. Geology and Geophysics faculty have access to
exceptional laboratory, field, and computational resources including:_

  	* _Materials Characterization Laboratory (FESEM, conventional SEM, 200
kV TEM, EPMA, powder XRD);_
	* _Geochemistry Analytical Laboratory (ICPMS, ICPOES, IC, and a range
of other techniques for geochemical analysis);_
	* _Wyoming High Precision Isotope Laboratory with a state-of-the-art
Thermo Fisher Scientific NEPTUNE Plus MC-ICPMS that routinely measures
radiogenic isotopes of Sr, Nd, Hf and Pb, U-Th-Ra disequilibrium, and
non-traditional stable isotopes of Ca, Fe, Mg, Pt and U;_
	* _Wyoming Center for Environmental Hydrology and Geophysics (which
hosts a large facility of near-surface geophysical equipment, including
seismic, electrical, potential field and electromagnetic
instrumentation);_
