> In the Po Plain and in the Adriatic foredeep, the outernmost thrust fronts of the Northern Apennines and Southern Alps chains are buried below and deform Plio-Quaternary sediments, their activity is highlighted by the occurrence of moderate seismicity and sporadic large earthquakes. The aim of this session is to gather multidisciplinary contributions to discuss about the evolution and recent activity of these tectonic structures. The session will emphasize particularly the use of basic geologic data as input to build analog and numerical models used for constraining the geometry and kinematics of the structures and for the identification of the potential sources of seismic threats in a region otherwise considered as a low seismic hazard area, altough being the site of strategic installations and projects (e.g. new power plants and carbon sequestration).
