Laboratory Technician in Geology
The University of Kansas
The Isotope Geochemistry Laboratory in the Department of Geology at the University of Kansas invites applications for a laboratory manager or technician with experience in geochemistry or inorganic chemistry. The appointment will begin on March 1, 2012, with a later starting date possible. The successful applicant will work primarily as part of a team of faculty and students in the KU Isotope Geochemistry Laboratories. Duties include maintaining the thermal ionization mass spectrometers, Laser Ablation ICP-MS, clean room wet chemistry, and preparation of samples for isotopic analysis. Furthermore, the laboratory manger is also expected to work with students, faculty and outside users. This is 12-month laboratory manger/technician position. Reappointment beyond one year is contingent upon satisfactory performance and external funding. Required Qualifications:
MS or higher degree in geology, chemistry, or closely related field.
One or more years of experience in analytical chemistry.
Effective communication skills as evidenced by application materials. 

Preferred Qualifications:
Past employment or research in geochemistry or analytical chemistry laboratory.
