Dear all,

On the occasion of
DRT2013, held in Leuven, Belgium, and to commemorate
Henk Zwart (1924-2012), the editorial board of Journal of Structural Geology and
Elsevier agreed to dedicate a special issue under the theme Deformation of the Lithosphere: How Small Structures Tell a Big Story. This special issue intends to focus on
linking microstructural research at the crystal-scale to a better understanding of the rheology of the lithosphere, the anisotropy in both crust and mantle rocks, and the large-scale structure of orogenic systems. Particular interest goes to recent advances
in the development and application of the newest instrumental techniques, experiments and modeling in geological and material sciences to quantify the microstructural evolution within Earth’s lithosphere.
