> Dear all, further to my previous email we are now seeking applications for the following research position. We may have an additional position so would also encourage people who have experience of structural modelling, cross-section construction and restorations to apply.

> The School has a strong international research profile integrating the geological and geophysical sciences, with particular strengths in applied structural geology. You will work on a new multidisciplinary project funded by the Colombian hydrocarbon company, Ecopetrol, entitled “Reducing uncertainty in the structural controls of charge history of the Eastern Cordillera and Llanos Basin”. The objective of your component of the project is to address the uncertainty associated with exploration in the frontal limbs of compressional structures. This research will develop workflows that integrate geologically feasible models of field examples with seismic forward modelling, in order to address the uncertainty in imaging of faulted and steeply dipping reflections. It will then apply a variety of structural modelling techniques to test which is the most appropriate for predicting the geometry of areas that are poorly imaged. There is an expectation that the research will be closely aligned to Ecopetrol work and will involve time in the field and their office in Colombia.
>
> You will have a PhD either in applied structural geology, geophysics or a closely related area and excellent communication skills. The ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment will also be required. You will be expected to publish research papers and to present your research at national and international meetings.
