Dear Colleagues,
On the behalf of the Organizing and Scientific Committee of the 18th
International Sedimentological Congress, to be held in Mendoza, Argentina
(26th September - 1st October, 2010), we would like to draw your attention
to the following session:
Technical session 11-1: Quaternary climate archives
Session description:
Quaternary archives are widely used over continents to generate records of
past environmental and climate changes. They are diverse including lake
sediments and shorelines, speleothems and cores deposits, pollen data,
fluvial, aeolian, periglacial and glacial deposits as well as ice- and
near-shore marines cores. Constrained by robust chronological framework,
they could provide valuable insigns of past environmental and climate
changes at different space and time scales.
In this session, we invite a broad range of oral and poster contributions
related to quaternary climate archives. This session is not exclusive of
South America and we encourage records from other continents. We also
particularly welcome papers that focus on methodological developments
improving quantification of climatic parameters from proxies as well as
contributions related to intercalibration of analytical techniques,
including biological, elemental and isotopic studies. Finally, studies
involving paleodata reconstruction combined with modelling approach testing
the impact of climatic changes at the scale of an ecosystem are welcome.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions and find more
details about abstract submission and others at the Congress website
