Colleagues,

We want to make sure you are aware of the session

T10: The Chile-Argentina Flatslab: Structure, evolution and interactions
         with mantle and overlying lithosphere.

at the Meeting of the Americas: 8-13 August, 2010, Foz do Iguassu Brazil

Flat subduction of the Nazca Plate beneath central Chile and Argentina is the
most studied case of this phenomena globally. Yet full understanding of why
and how it happens and its consequences for lithospheric and mantle dynamics
remains elusive. This session will include invited talks to review what is
known about the structure and evolution of the Nazca Flatslab and associated
mantle and lithospheric processes as well as contributions addressing recent
developments. Papers in any discipline bearing on the problem are welcome.

While this session overlaps with session
T06: Flat Slab Subduction
it is intended to be focussed on the specific slab beneath Chile and
Argentina as opposed to the many other examples of flat subduction globally.
