Dear colleagues,
The Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences,
(IGGCAS) is looking to recruit a PhD student with a background in
geophysics to research the paleomagnetic field behaviour during the Kiaman
Reverse Superchron. The successful candidate will join the Paleomagnetism
and Geochronology Laboratory led by Prof. Rixiang Zhu and will be working
directly with Prof. Yongxin Pan and Associate Prof. Greig Paterson and
will contribute to the larger goal of understanding the long term
evolution of the geomagnetic field and its links to deep Earth processes.
The successful applicant will be involved with samples collection in
China, laboratory experiments, data processing and interpretation. They
will also have the opportunity to present results at both domestic and
international conferences.
The candidate should be an enthusiastic and self-motivated graduate of
geology or geophysics. They should have an enquiring and rigorous approach
to research and an interest in experimental laboratory and fieldwork.
Chinese language skills are not a requirement for a successful
appointment, but dedicated funding is available for the successful
candidate to undertake language lessons in Chinese if desired.
If you would like further information on this position, please contact
Yongxin Pan (yxpan en mail.iggcas.ac.cn) or Greig Paterson
(greig.paterson en mail.iggcas.ac.cn).
Best wishes
Greig Paterson
