The paleomagnetic lab at the Ben Gurion University, Israel, invites
applications for a postdoctoral position (starting October 2013) to
investigate newly collected vector marine magnetic anomaly data from the
Eastern Mediterranean basins. The nature and age of the crust in this part
of the world is poorly understood. This work is likely to have important
implications for our understanding of both the Levant and Herodotus
Basins. It is expected that the successful candidate will conduct
systematic study of the vector and gradiometer data. A thorough
investigation and interpretation of the anomalies will allow to
investigate various outstanding tectonic problems.
The initial appointment is for 1 year, but we hope that funding will
become available for a minimum of 1 additional year, assuming satisfactory
performance.
A Ph.D. is required in the relevant field, and preferred candidates will
have expertise with vector magnetic data. Evaluation of applications will
be immediate and continue until the position is filled. To apply, please
send a CV (including publications), a statement describing research
background and interests, and a list of three people who can provide
letters of reference to Roi Granot (rgranot en bgu.ac.il).
I will attend EGU meeting next week if you would like to meet with me,
Roi Granot,
