Dear colleagues,

Please consider submitting your abstract at the EMRP3.8 session “Short
and long- term geomagnetic field variations in the past: what do we
know?”, that will take place at EGU 2019 meeting, Vienna, 7-12 April 2019.

Deadline for abstract submission:*January 10th, 2019 at 13.00 CET*

EMRP3.8:

SHORT AND LONG-TERM GEOMAGNETIC FIELD VARIATIONS IN THE PAST: WHAT DO WE
KNOW?

The study of the spatial and temporal evolution of the geomagnetic field
in the past is fundamental to understand the processes that take place
in the Earth's external core and to obtain information about the
geomagnetic field evolution at the core-mantle boundary. For the last
decades, such information is provided by historical and instrumental
data, while for older periods the investigation of archaeological
material, volcanic rocks, lacustrine and marine sediments is necessary.
In this session, we invite contributions that can offer information
about the past geomagnetic field variations in both short and long
timescales. Acquisition, measurements and elaboration of new records of
archaeomagnetic jerks, paleosecular variation and geomagnetic filed
reversals are welcome. The session solicits also contributions about
regional and global palaeomagnetic databases and geomagnetic field modeling.
