Dear friends and colleagues,

Could you please encourage your Masters students to apply for a
fully-funded PhD studentship in cyclostratigraphy at the Sedimentary
Petrology Laboratory in Liege University (Belgium).

The project will focus on different Silurian sedimentary records and will
involve substantial field and laboratory based work, including magnetic,
XRF and carbon isotope measurements. These results will then be used for
cyclostratigraphy to build high resolution time scales. The work will also
involve modelling, with a focus on paleoclimate and on the development of
anoxia during the Silurian.

The project will require numerous field campaigns, as well as
collaborations with various institutions, providing the opportunities also
for stay(s) abroad in one of these institutions (e.g. University of
California at Riverside, University of Copenhagen or University of Bremen).
Good oral and written proficiency in English is essential. French-speaking
skills are non-compulsory.

process will continue until the position is filled. Start date is
